Find a Care Home | Finding a Care Provider | Advice on How to Find a Care Home

"My mother had been living with us for four years, and it was getting much harder for me to manage her care needs. I found Grace Care’s website which explained their different services. I was finding it difficult to talk things over with my mother, but I also very much wanted her to be part of any decisions we made, so I arranged for a Grace Care Adviser to come and see us in our home."

"It was clear that the Adviser, Claire, was very experienced and most diplomatic in understanding mother’s needs and then explaining her various options. I didn’t want my mother to feel I was pushing her into a care home, and it was interesting to see how readily she accepted the possibility from Claire."

"Before Claire left we had all agreed that living with us was getting difficult for us all, and my mother realised this couldn’t continue, though she was very anxious about moving to a care home. Claire promised to send a report with suggested care homes for us to visit before any decisions were made. My mother was asked to give clear instructions about the things that would be important to her, and it seemed that the more things she asked for, the easier it was for Grace Care to identify the best answers."

"My mother and I felt so much better for having the chance to talk things over with someone so experienced and understanding."

"A few days later we received Claire’s report, with introductions to four Care Homes. Over the next week, we visited them all and my mother was pleasantly surprised by the places we saw. I’m sure she would have been badly put off the whole idea if she had seen somewhere unsuitable."

"Claire phoned to see how we were getting on, and sent one more suggestion for us to visit, as she had just heard of a vacancy in a home just near us. From the homes we had seen, my mother felt comfortable to make her choice, especially as Claire had suggested spending a week or two there before making a final choice."

"I can’t thank Grace Care enough for the trouble they took to guide us through this difficult decision. Claire was very diplomatic and most professional. I am left knowing that we have made the right choice, and it was my mother who was able to make the final decision herself."

"At the time we were due to visit the care homes I had a bad back that made it difficult for me to drive. When I told Grace Care, they offered for a very reasonable fee to take us round the care homes themselves if I hadn’t recovered in time. As it happened I was fine, but it was great to know that Grace Care was there for us if we needed extra help." ** - Mrs Jean Spencer - Cardiff

"At 78 I’ve started to find it increasingly difficult to care for my wife who suffers from severe arthritis and can’t manage without a great deal of help."

"A friend suggested I contact Grace Care, and when I rang them they seemed to quickly understand our problem, and explained their different levels of assistance."

"I booked a telephone consultation with a Grace Care Adviser who called me the next day at the appointed time. I was able to explain just how my wife and I felt about things. During the course of the call, which must lasted over half an hour, everything became clearer, as the Adviser explained all the options we might consider and how she would help us find a really good care provider for my wife."

"At last I was talking to someone who really understood our worries and could guide us through the maze."

"Three days later we received a report from Grace which set out introductions to care providers, specifically selected for our needs. We visited the three care homes that Grace suggested and were shown around by staff who were expecting us. We then asked representatives of the care agencies to call and talk about care at home."

"Now we are getting extra help at home for the time being, and we will manage like that as long as possible. Should we need my wife to have a short respite stay, we know where to go, and the same goes if we can’t carry on like this at home. It was good to know that Anne, the Grace Care Adviser, was there to answer some more questions that we had following her report, and to talk over our thoughts about the homes we had seen. The care plan she sent made it much easier to talk to the care agencies, and Anne had also given us some useful hints about what to look for when looking at the care homes she had recommended."

"We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Grace to friends." - Mr J. Schofield - Canterbury

"My mother thought it was time to move to a care home but until we talked to Grace I wasn’t sure how to proceed, or if I was helping her make the right decision."

"I wanted to talk things over with someone experienced in these things so we could clarify our thinking. The Grace Care Adviser listened, answered all my questions, and then explained all the options we might consider. She made it all seem so clear - I felt that at last I knew what steps to take and had some really sound advice to work on."

"The Care Adviser then sent me a summary of our discussion and useful information about sourcing and selecting a care home, which has been really helpful, and other fact sheets as well, including one about the benefits that might be available for my mother."

"Luckily we soon found a vacancy in a home that my mother likes."

"Grace were invaluable in pointing us in the right direction" - Mrs Bryanston – Wolverhampton
